Asset value adjustment

An international pharmaceutical group faced an operational challenge in accounting of fixed assets. Being a manufacturing organisation, it owned hundreds of valuable fixed assets such as machinery. Value of those assets is changing and it is required by law to adjust the value in case any improvements to assets are done and amortised over time. Task of adjusting assets' value is burdensome and time consuming.

Solution

A software robot based on UiPath platform has been developed.

The robot was designed as an attended robot, which required an employee to launch it. The process owners wanted to keep control over the launching of the robot as input data had to be prepared manually from paper documentation.

After launch, the robot collected input data in form of an Excel file and read the data from the record. Then it went through several dozens of steps, during which collected information such as identification number of an asset, invoice number, statistical parameters saved in the ERP system. When the value of the asset was adjusted, the robot moved to the next record.

Usage of the robot saved around 1/4 FTE and ensured much higher accuracy compared with manual input.
